Socially Distant Outdoor Experiences for the 2020 Holiday Season

This year went by so quickly, I cannot believe we’re in November already. Like you, I am trying to find new ways to experience the world around me in a safe manner. Many of these experiences listed are actually not new but have been slightly changed to accommodate social distancing protocols.

While you may have to travel out of state for some of these activities, there may be something near you so just do a quick google search.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK 

Igloo Bar NYC – Spectacular NYC views and hot ciders, this Outdoor experience in NYC returns for another year. Due to COVID, they are no longer allowing strangers to share an igloo but you can reserve your spot here. The igloos are heated and robes will be provided, but you can always bring a cute throw to enhance your experience.Prices are standard NYC menu prices; this experience runs through May 2021 

LuminoCity Festival – Returning for another year, LuminoCity is a dynamic holiday light and immersive art experience that will take place outdoors on Randall Island in NYC during the 2020 Holiday season. Tickets start at $38usd, plan your experience early. 

Lumino City Festival 2020 - nyc

Greenery, warmth, The Lodge at Gallow Green, is a cozy mountainside lodge nestled atop the hotel in a secluded forest of pine trees. This overgrown secret garden is the perfect holiday spot, with firepits and socially distant protocols put into place. Make your reservation here

RHODE ISLAND 

Fondue Village – Returning for it’s third year, Fondue Village is a luxuriously cozy private dining venue offers a satisfying four-course lunch and dinner menu of Alpine delicacies served alongside vintage selections of Veuve Clicquot champagne – and we know how much I love bubbly! Prices start at $400usd and this experience runs through March 2021. 

WASHINGTON, DC 

Winter Igloo @ Next Whisky Bar – Returning for it’s third year, you can dine with your beau or friends/family under the stars at Watergate. There are drink and food minimums to be prepared to spend at least $50 per person depending on your party size. Igloo rentals start at $125usd. This experience runs through March 2021. LONDON, UK 

Ivy Chelsea Garden is one of the top five cutest places to dine in London. With a garden and a marvelous Christmas display yearly, this backdrop is the perfect place for your holiday Instagram photos. For proper contact tracing, be sure to make your reservations early.

Visit Winter London’s site for different types of outdoor experiences

ATLANTA, GA

Starting November 14, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens will reimagine their Alice in Wonderland exhibition with Holiday lights and installations. Plan your visit with timed entry tickets

Publico Tap and Kitchen returns with their outdoor igloos in Midtown, Atlanta. There is a $65 spending minimum and reservations must be made in advance. 

DENVER, COLORADO

Trail of Lights at Chatfield Farms takes you along a winding path glistening with lights that illuminate the Colorado countryside. The route takes visitors directly through a children’s play area, the outside area of the Green Farm barn and 1880s homestead. Trail of lights features music, a light tunnel and illuminated antique works on display. This runs from November 27 – January 3. Plan your visit here. 

LOS ANGELES, CA 

Happy Place is returning with a re-imagined drive through experience. Opening on November 20th, there will be the first car operated piano, rooftop views and more. This will be an immersive drive through experience. While the walking-based Happy Place ran $28.50 per guest, this return is charging $49.50 per car—which should be a bit more cost effective for families. Ticket sales launch at 10am on Friday, October 30, online here.
